CBC and Bestselling author C. J. Domino: MISSION ACCOMPLISHED

From our first meeting on Friday, June 20, 2007 to begin her whirlwind tour of Mississippi promoting the book SIDELINE HO, I instantly knew why C. J. Domino had created such an exciting buzz around herself. Poised and confident---a woman on a mission---there is no doubt of one simple fact: She believes in her book.

And so she should. SIDELINE HO doesn't read like a debut novel, not when you consider the complexities and social issues that it fearlessly addresses. There is something for everyone, and everyone is someone in the book that tackles homosexuality, the "down low" lifestyle, verbal and physical abuse as well as dealing with loving the one you're with.

In two days we visited with groups at various locations, but everyone found something about the book they could relate to. Thanks goes out to all of the individuals and groups that made the visit a success. The book clubs (The Savvy Book Club, QUEENS of Mississippi and Natural Essence Book Club), the libraries (The Pearl Public Library, the Medgar Evers Library, the Richard Wright Library and the Willie Morris Library) and all of those who just wanted to show their support.

Believe me, you haven't heard the last of C. J. Domino, and with a new book already in the works and the word getting out about her debut, I know that she will be busy for many years to come.

A REVIEW OF SIDELINE HO
Title: Sideline Ho
Author: CJ Domino
Publisher: Slightly Ghetto Books
Reviewed by: Shay C of PeoplewholoveGoodBooks

Nikole Freeman is every man's dream and every woman's worst nightmare. Moving from one bad relationship to another, relationships full of physical and emotional abuse. Nikole finally meets a man that seems to appreciate and love her despite her many faults. But her past finally catches up to her, will all her bad decisions ruin the one good relationship, she has ever had? Not to mention, there is someone out to get her and when that person is revealed, it is a betrayal that catches Nikole completely off-guard. Sideline Ho is the kind of story that will have you sitting and shaking your head as you read about Nikole and her many antics. Yet, Nikole is the type of character that you love to hate as you find yourself feeling sorry for her and hoping that she changes her ways before it's too late. Full of drama, betrayal and an unexpected twist, Sideline Ho is one story you won't be able to put it down!

Join us for this week's "Conversations" --- July 3-6, 2007

It's the first week of July and we are beginning things with a explosive literary bang with our conversations this week. Make sure you make plans to attend!

Tuesday, July 3, 2007 (Medgar Evers Library * Jackson, MS--- 601.982.2867)
V. C. ANDREWS: The woman behind the legacy

This begins our series of discussions about the impact that the international bestselling author V. C. Andrews has had on the literary industry and how the social issues she braved have set the stage for so many who have come after her.

Friday, July 6, 2007
LATRESE N. CARTER: Author of LIAR, LIAR (Medgar Evers Library * Jackson, MS--- 601.982.2867)

Okay, I have to admit that I have been looking forward to this discussion for a few weeks now.

Carter's debut novel tells the story of a couple not only dealing with love for each other, but their love (or lack of it) of the truth.

We hope to see you there, and don't forget about the statewide book club meet and greet this weekend!
