Authors Alicia Rice & Shelia Lipsey: MISSION ACCOMPLISHED

Saturday, September 29, 2007
The events over this past weekend meant more to me than I could ever express. After everything that people have said, either out of jealousy or ignorance, the book club that I founded just 10 months ago has grown into a force that can't be denied. We hosted our 20th author LIVE AND IN PERSON this weekend. OUR 20TH! How many other book clubs can say that? And I bring that up not to pat myself on the back, but to say that regardless of what people may SAY, it is your ACTIONS that speak louder than anything else.

This all began for us on Thursday when the "Subway Conversations" book club met to discuss Lipsey's book SINSATIABLE.

On Friday, we were joined by Ms. Rice and her family and embarked on the journey of the day that began at 9:30a.m. and took us until 7:00p.m. that evening. Thanks to those at Medgar Evers Library, the Jackson Advocate, Ms. Bridges' two classes at Pearl High School, Subway Restaurant in Pearl and Waldenbooks Metrocenter for making it an awesome day!

On Saturday, we began bright and early at Richard Wright Library and from there traveled to Waldenbooks Metrocenter for a signing and then back to Richard Wright for a meet and greet. The day ends with "Spoken Word Saturdays" @ Subway.

We appreciate the support of Shelia E. Lipsey who made her second trip to Mississippi THIS MONTH to support us. And to Alicia, we appreciate you sharing your story with us, and allow Conversations to add to your history by seeing to your book being made available to your fans thanks to Waldenbooks in Jackson, MS.

There is no stopping the power behind Conversations Book Club and its mission to get others addicted to books. We thank all of you for your support and look forward to your being a part of our success in the world.

Cyrus, the huge success of both of my visits to Mississippi were because of you. Your professionalism, your kind spirit and your patience made everything run smoothly. You have the gift of making others feel special and for that I am thankful. I left Mississippi with new found friendships, an ever greater love for the arts and of course one of the most fun-filled book events I have ever experienced. For those in Mississippi who are not members of this fine book club, now is the to climb on board and experience the thrill! Again, thank you Cyrus, thank you Conversations, thank you Mississippi!
