Readers who have come to know and love Maya Angelou will be surprised and delighted by this personal, illustrated portrait of the renowned poet, author, playwright, and humanitarian.

CBC President Cyrus A. Webb was chosen by Doubleday, the book's publisher, to receive and read an advance copy of the book that will be released worldwide on April 1, 2008 and given access to interview two of the three authors (Marcia Ann Gillespie and Rose Johnson Butler).

"This is an honor that I don't take lightly," Webb said in a statement to the national media. "What began for me as a book club with three members in November 2006 has reached levels that I couldn't have imagined. I feel so grateful for the responsibility that is being bestowed on what was born right here in Missisippi."
The interviews will be taped live at the Richard Wright Library for Webb's online program "Conversations" and will be open to the public. Details will follow in the coming days.
