BREAKING: Governor William Winter to attend Conversations discussion of his book

On Tuesday, September 9, 2008 Conversations Book Club received an email from Former Governor William Winter informing the group that he will be attending the discussion of his book on Thursday, September 18, 2008.  It was announced a couple of weeks ago that the "Nonfiction Conversations" Book Club in Mississippi had chosen the book "The Measure of our Days" by former Governor William Winter to be discussed during September 2008 as their book of the month.
(NOTE: A review of the book appeared in the Rankin Ledger on Sat. September 6, 2008. Read it here: http://www.rankinledger.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080906/LIFE/809060305/1003)
"To have his blessing on our discussion means alot to what we have been doing when it comes to books and encouraging reading," says Cyrus A. Webb, President of the book club chapter. "Having met Mr. Winter when the book was first released, I know that he is a testament to what we are trying to do: improve the lives of everyone a day at a time."

The public is invited to the meeting on Thursday, September 18, 2008 at the Pearl Public Library (Old Brandon Road * Pearl, MS) beginning at 6p.m. Whether you have read the book or not, you are encouraged to attend. Moderated by Webb, they will discuss how Winter's speeches and writings foreshadowed the current political scene that we now find ourselves in.

After expressing his appreciation for the group discussing the book, the former Governor went on to say "It represents a random collection of excerpts from my speeches and writings over a period of some sixty years. I hope that some of it will be meaningful to people who have shared some of the same experiences that I have had."

Admission free. Light refreshments will be provided by the book club. For more information, contact Cyrus A. Webb at cawebb4@juno.com or 601.896.5616. Information about the book club can be found at http://www.thebestbookclub.info.
